Anantasila Hotel staff apartments in Hua Hin (2007 - 2011)As with our earlier project of low-cost housing in Bangkok after a fire in the Soi Polo community area (see below), this project for staff apartments for Anantasila Villa Hotel is another attempt to build decent accommodation for the hotel maids + staff, 20 rooms, at a low cost (B 9,000 per sqm), using simple inexpensive finishes and materials but still creating an interesting architectural composition. The main building, a small 10x10m tower, 10m high (4 floors) contains 15 smaller apartment units, 12 of them with en-suite bathrooms, the smaller 3-storey building houses 5 larger units for senior staff members of the hotel, all of those with en-suite bathrooms. The result is that the hotel owner + client, the staff of the hotel now living there, and all of us at atrium design are very happy with the project! Completed in 2011. |
Bearing Residence, Sukhumvit 107, Bangkok (2007)Low-cost condominium at the outskirts of Bangkok with 78 units, mostly small 32 sqm studio apartments for first time buyers. This is part of a whole new development, the first phase were the Bearing Home-Office buildings (see atrium website private houses), another part will be a covered market/shopping area. The scheme shows one of atrium design’s main concerns and interests: to provide low-cost and affordable residential design schemes which, at the same time, are architecturally as interesting, good and well designed as expensive apartment buildings and private houses. |
