
Casadaeng Apartments in Hua Hin (2007)Low-rise apartments around a central garden with large swimming pool and mature existing trees, in Khao Takiab, just 200 m from the beach behind Anantasila Villa Hotel. Many eco-friendly “green” features such as reduction of electric energy need (good insulation of floors, walls, roof, natural cross ventilation, solar water heating, LED lighting etc.) as well as efficient water management (rain water collection and treatment for use throughout), chemical-free oxygen pool etc. have been incorporated in the design. Only 1 apartment per floor, each with large covered out-door living areas (terraces) and balconies. Phase 1 has 6 large and luxurious apartments, Phase 2 (CD2) has another 10 units (two houses, 6 large apartments and two double-height artist’s studio with large north-facing windows). Construction started in February 2009 and phase 1 is scheduled to be completed in February 2010. |

Low-cost staff housing for hotel in Hua Hin (2007)As with our earlier project of low-cost housing in Bangkok after a fire in the Soi Polo community area (see below), this small project is another attempt to build decent accommodation for maids + staff of a hotel, 25 rooms, at very low cost (B 8,000 per sqm), using load-bearing block walls instead of a more expensive but more common re-inforced concrete columns + beam structure. Construction is scheduled to start mid 2009. |

Bearing Residence, Sukhumvit 107, Bangkok (2007)Low-cost condominium at the outskirts of Bangkok with 78 units, mostly small 32 sqm studio apartments for first time buyers. This is part of a whole new development, the first phase were the Bearing Home-Office buildings (see atrium website private houses), another part will be a covered market/shopping area. The scheme shows one of atrium design’s main concerns and interests: to provide low-cost and affordable residential design schemes which, at the same time, are architecturally as interesting, good and well designed as expensive apartment buildings and private houses. |
